Post-doc in Robotic Metrology

The RoMas team, headed by Mr Stéphane Caro, is positioned in the “Robotics, Processes, Computing” research cluster. The team's work focuses on developing and using the scientific tools needed to design, develop and operate robots, machines, systems and resources for industrial and everyday applications. The team is made up of 33 people, including 13 teaching researchers and 12 PhD students. The team also has 6 platforms and demonstrators. Sébastien GARNIER, Senior Lecturer (HDR), is leading an ANR Défi Transfert robotique PARME project.

The PARME project concerns the maintenance of steel structures, the acronym standing for : Peinture Assistée par Robot pour Milieu Exigu. Six partners are involved:

  • end users: EDF hydro and Naval Group,
  • an SME, Meliad, specialized in the robotization of laser stripping solutions, and Nimble One, a start-up developing an original robotized solution,
  • 3 laboratories:
    • IRIT is involved in vision-related aspects,
    • MAPIEN is involved in qualification and corrosion treatment processes,
    • LSN2, the coordinator, is involved in the analysis and measurement of displacements, and the process specific to the Nimble ONE ARU robot.

Missions

The candidate will define different models to identify the ARU robot, taking into account size, flexibility and backslash. He/she will participate in the development of the measurement strategy to optimize the identification result. He/she will estimate the ARU's weaknesses, and analyze its capability for defined tasks.

The candidate will be responsible for setting up the measuring equipment and implementing the various test campaigns required to complete the project. In this context, the candidate will be responsible for:

  • manage relationships and follow up on project deliverables,
  • participate in steering the development of the capability cell,
  • take charge of both administrative and general technical aspects,
  • manage the drafting of deliverables.

Main activities

  • Define the choice of a sensor assembly for multi-sensor acquisition, taking into account multi-body position and vibration data. Benchmark existing systems. Set up the entire acquisition chain.
  • Take charge of the ARU robot in order to maintain and program it for experimentation.
  • Develop the acquisition chain and associated programming to generate acquisition sets.
  • Propose an analysis of the pre-positioning of the acquisition chain in order to maximize the precision resulting from the acquisition according to the tasks to be carried out.
  • Collaborate and write various publications on the theme developed. Participate in the establishment of internal deliverables related to the project.
